Each Wikia Search user has his or her own profile. You can customize your profile in many different ways, and other users can communicate with you via your profile. Also, your profile acts as a hub for all the actions you take within the search results.
The profile page shows:
Your name will appear on the top right of your profile. Next to your name, you will see the words "Edit this". Click that link and you will be brought to the "About" tab, where you can provide some basic information about yourself as well as change the email address associated with your account.
There are also three other tabs on this screen - "Interests", "Work", and "Education". Click any of those tabs and you will be able to provide further information about yourself.
You can also access these tabs by clicking the "Edit this" link next to the respective sections on your profile.
In the upper left of your page, you'll see a large grey box which reads "No Photo," and a link below it that says "Upload Photo." Click that link, and you will be prompted to upload a picture.
This picture will appear:
Under your photo is an input box which asks, "What are you doing?" Answer the question and hit "set." Your answer will appear under your photo and on the friend list of other Wikia Search users with whom you are friends.
On your profile, you will see up to eight of your Wikia Search friends. These friends are displayed randomly. You can click any friend's image or name to see their profile, and if you want to see all of your friends, click the "x of y" link next to the word "Friends", or use the drop-down menu on the "Profile" tab.
On your page, you and others can see a list of your recent activity on Wikia Search. Every public social action you take, be it changing your profile picture or your status, poking a friend, writing on another's Wall, or making a friendship, will appear under your Recent Activity. You can see all of your activity by clicking the "View All" link.
Similarly, any changes you make to search results will also appear in your recent activity. While your changes to the results will appear on your profile, the topics and keywords you search on will not appear publicly. If you wish to hide your recent activity, you may do so by blocking your profile via your Privacy Setting.
Any messages you receive from other users will be displayed on your Wall. Public messages are visible to everyone allowed under your Privacy Setting. Private messages will only be displayed to you. To see all of your Wall messages, click the x of y link next to the words The Wall on your profile.
Write a message to a user by going to their profile and scrolling down to their Wall. You can specify whether the message is public or private via the drop down box above the message area.
Similarly, you can nudge anyone (except yourself) by going to the other users profile page and clicking the "Nudge" link under his or her photo. Once you nudge someone, you will be unable to nudge that person again unless the other user removes the nudge or nudges you back.
Mouse over the "Profile" tab on the grey bar and a dropdown menu will appear. Click "Privacy Setting" and you will be presented with many different ways to limit ways that others can see your information and contact you. Note that you cannot hide your search results changes from others - these changes will always be publicly viewable. (You can make your profile unviewable, but your changes will still appear on Global Changes and on the search result's page history.)
The privacy options have four options: Everyone, Users, Friends, Nobody.
You can also use the dropdown menu to "Change Preferences". This area controls the e-mail notifications you will receive from Wikia Search. Right now, there are two events that send emails: When sent a personal message (that is, a wall post or a poke) by another user; and when another user sends you a friend request. If you do not want Wikia Search emailing you on either or both of these occurrences, uncheck the relevant box(es) and click "Update".
